it's simple. You catch the ball, you chuck it at this giant wall and it bounces back for the other team to catch. It can bounce off the back wall or side wall as well, but it must hit that big front facing wall. If you miss catching the ball, the other team gets a point. It's not hard.

Talking to Kimi Kawaguchi, she tells a story of practicing ballet and accidentally stepping on the dogs tail and it yelping. She blamed her brother, Kenny, who is in a wheelchair and it got him in trouble. She felt SO bad so she gave him her desert, which was cheesecake, her favorite.

So we played some Backyard Baseball last night and.... holy crap this game is amazing!
The attention to detail is awesome! Each player has a card where you talk to the kids and learn about them and the STORIES TOLD! They are interwoven within each other and it really builds the characters up. Their personalities shine because of amazing writing and art design. Let me tell you a story!

MUDs suffer from using a singular screen for all inputs. Chat, combat, room descriptions, help, inventory... every piece of information is flooding a singular screen. People can't parse it. They shouldn't have to set up macros to be able to do basic combat or to engage in basic combat strategies. The MUD genre is the number one genre that has evolved THE LEAST of any game and it can be so much better. So much more. 3/3

But with a MUD combat system, how are you going to easily help inform players what moves do what? How can you give then a larger array of attack types and abilities without overwhelming them? Easy... make a client... add a hotbar... do ANYTHING to evolve the MUD genre to make it more accessible, strategic and engaging for modern players. Give them a graphical user interface, give them tooltips, separate combat chat from room descriptions. Do SOMETHING 2/

MUD combat system. How to make it snappy. Take a page from the xenoblade chronicles playback. Attack powers that can put an enemy into a status effect that can boost damage for other attack power types.
Add to this, allow enemies to take positions and actions that can be countered with specific move types. Make each enemy emote their behavior to signpost what to do to counter it and each monster emotes differently to fit their character. BUT 1/
