Saw a post from someone referencing "logging off social media for the holidays." I'm not sure who does that vs. the folks who post passive-aggressive commentary in a flurry to avoid unfortunate outbursts in person.

I feel like the final book in @GreatDismal's Jackpot trilogy is probably delayed again for 1-2 years. We're in another stub now. Again.

I just wish you could mute Trade chat in #WorldOfWarcraft for a short duration like you can here. People being weird trolls? Just mute it for an hour, and it'll come back later when they're bored and have left.

Say what you will about wired headphones, but mine have never inconveniently run out of battery, needed a firmware update to address quality issues, or failed to hold a charge and need to be discarded.
To be fair, I do not often wear headphones when I'm out and about--I hate being startled--so my usage doesn't require wireless convenience either.

I hate to say that I'm part of the target market for solo LFR style raids in #WorldOfWarcraft. I can accept that other people are the way they are, but that does not make me want to be part of their group. I haven't been in a raid group or even LFR since Shadowlands.

When I read about folks struggling with concepts I used to struggle with but finally learned how to deal with, I lament the fact that I can't just tell them my realization that came through experience. I've tried, but they're sure the way they're doing it (and failing) is the right way, and everyone else is wrong. I mean, so was I, back then. They gotta figure it out on their own, which they may only if they're ready.

Just because they posted something stupid doesn't mean I need to add my comment to it.

Both sets of grandparents worked at a clock factory, so I grew up with quite a few chiming clocks in my childhood home and I also have a chiming clock of my own. After thirty years, I had the movement replaced at the clockmaker's recommendation. It was still in production and minimal extra cost, and they'd repair and reuse the old one after disassembly on their own time. I'm not sure how many GenXers have chiming mantel clocks, but it's a pleasant sound to me.

It just occurred to me that now that I have updated my Yubikey 5s, I really don't need those Yubikey 4s I've been holding onto.

My wife is talking with the owner of a design firm we are working with for the grounds. We've no lawn, we don't want a lawn, and we're trying to make a long-term shift to a native species, low-to-no maintenance space that supports flora and fauna. Woolly, but designed to be intentionally so.
The person we're working with has been flaky, and after explaining we'd like regular communications after a recent snafu, she then went on vacation with no notice or backup, causing her to drop the ball in the interim.
I'm not able to speak diplomatically when I'm upset, so while my wife is not thrilled at being the point person, she'd rather I not burn bridges.

On days like today, I miss feature phones. The experience wasn't better, but short of a pen register, there wasn't that much logging of what I was doing for things I don't want or don't need.

I both want to know what's going on and am sick to death of hearing about it.

Our older Siamese seems to having a little difficulty making it to her food dish. She’s an anxious eater, so she gets small meals about a dozen times a day—any more than her gullet can hold and she’ll barf. She’s also got hip dysplasia and arthritis, so it’s hard for her to traipse downstairs. She might be hard of hearing now too.
All this is to say that I moved her food dishes closer to the place she likes to nap upstairs. She’s not sure she’s quite happy with the move, but I’m at least more sure she can hear the dish dispensing as well as it being easier for her to get to. If only she could self-feed, but alas.
