Similarly: many antidepressant medications are associated with a side effect colloquially known as "brain zaps." I've used (and experienced withdrawal from) many different antidepressants over the years, and I can't say I've ever felt a "zap" or shock-like sensation; I have experienced (on my current meds, even) sensations more like a brain "pause" or "reset," along with what feels almost like a pressure on all of my senses—lasting less than a second every time. Is that a "zap?"

That humourous bit of advice made me think about something that's kinda haunted me for ages. I relate very much with being unable to recall certain words on the fly (or even names of people I've known for years). And I notice this blames it on "brain fog."

I don't think I have brain fog? I sure don't know what it's supposed to feel like, and all I have to go on is the name. Maybe others call "brain fog" what I just take for granted as routine existence. 🧵

The NDP and Liberals need to mercilessly lay into the Conservatives for wanting to just fucking roll over and appease Trump (with military expansion no less). Poilievre wishes he could have Trump's cultish appeal; adding that to Poilievre's love for convoy protestors, any Canadian who supports the Conservative party should be made to feel ashamed.

My personal domain name criteria:

1. Must not be my real name

2. Must be generic, and not tied to my specific profession or any one interest

3. Must be easy to comprehend when spoken aloud, without having to spell it out (so nothing like "fluorescentfuchsia.world"†)

4. Maybe a clever pun or portmanteau, but without falling afoul of criterion #3

5. Must be cheap (so no .auto TLD—what the heck??)

† Everyone feel free to claim that one to be intentionally confusing when spoken aloud

I'd like to think I'm learning from present-day tech debacles: if I'm going to migrate away from Massive Corporation's Email Service, I should switch to a new address with a domain name that I own. If I'm forced to change providers yet again, at least my address won't have to change anymore.

But now I'm thinking of what domain name I should use, which should take me just a couple of years to decide since it has to meet my arbitrary criteria and be absolutely perfect for years to come

There's a new group that pretty much wants to do with retro video games what #monsterdon does with movies. It seems to me that the monsterdon group thrives while simply using the hashtag to keep things together.

But is there ever an issue for people on "small" instances who may not get every post that bears the hashtag? Is this a matter of needing to follow enough of the right people to ensure proper federation?
