Coffee shops with concrete walls, concrete floors, and hard ceilings should only play ambient music, or no music at all. But really they should probably get a little bit of sound treatment.

Went bouldering (indoor) yesterday for the first time in six years or so. Feeling that new year energy. Back when I climbed regularly I was in my best shape ever. Now I’m perhaps in my worst ever, so, I’m coming back?

I just realized that I’m using the term “filter” inconsistently in my language design. Sometimes it means “filter stuff like this OUT (and give me what’s left)” and other times it means “filter out everything BUT this stuff”.
So what’s a good term (verb) for “filter out everything BUT this stuff”?

@sean_ae quite a new feeling to be listening to one of your sets and recognize bits from some of the patch videos you’ve shared. Much appreciated! (the sharing and the new sets)

There is a class of real estate agents who apparently keep tabs on the legal filings for estates (when someone dies, like, say, a parent) to find out who the heir(s) are to a property, so that they can then endlessly spam them on the phone and via email in order to try to get a good deal on buying the property.
These people are so low and I am on the verge of making it my mission to drag some of their names through the mud in the most public way I can find.
Sorry, had to vent somewhere.

Here’s a thing I feel conflicted about. I’m going to be migrating ~ several hundred thousands of lines of code in coming months (years??) from Swift to JavaScript. The code represents years of my previous work creating synthesizer patch editors. I’ve done a small portion of it already, and in the process, I’ve created scripts that use lots of regular expressions to help automate a lot of the grunt work, to varying degrees of success. But… (1/4)

I tried taking a few examples of what I’ve done (the original Swift code, and the “translated” JavaScript code) and throwing those into ChatGPT and asking it to translate some additional Swift code based on those examples. (2/4)

Do you have any things I should read or watch about journaling for thought organization, tasks, and scheduling? I’m trying to get more paper-y for that part of my life, and I have my own sort-of-system I use, but would love to find out more about what others use.
