OpenAlex is starting an advisory board! I have been working with them this past year and I think it would be great to have an opportunity to provide guidance more formally. If you use Research Information in any way, please vote for me (and other great candidates): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5EQT6X05CtpiIhALKNFNTbcPrme9wVmynhiHZ2XeVFamD1A/viewform

I was eager (read: impatient) to share both of these, but especially "Preprint servers and journals: Rivals or allies?", which I think raises some very important concerns and some hard questions for all us, especially #preprint advocates, to consider
We note that "there appears to be a tension between the visions of those whose servers are closely aligned with journal publishers and those who are operating more as community repositories."

New Preprint! Collaboration w/ @OpenAlex, @stefhaustein and @lariviev: An analysis of the suitability of OpenAlex for bibliometric analyses.
High-level comparisons with Scopus and lots of details to better understand OpenAlex. Just as importantly, we also lay some "Remaining Core Questions for the Community". MORE NEEDED!
Hopefully this is just the first of many studies that can help improve OpenAlex to make goals of @BarcelonaDORI a reality. https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.17663
