The future is federated. As a Volter (federal Europe) and fediverse ambassador I know that, but in past years I have not seen someone say it so brilliantly as @_elena!

I'm reading the #TheFutureIsFederated posts and I love it!

I feel exactly the same! And everytime when people ask me to talk about the fediverse, I feel it even more! :D

Update: Yesterday, the motion "Privacy starts at your own house" was approved in the city council of #Enschede!

Ik hou van sociale media. Maar dan graag sociale media die een echt publiek debat mogelijk maakt in plaats van asociale media die het debat stuurt via ondoorzichtige algoritmen. Het is tijd om algemene journalistieke principes opnieuw te gaan waarderen, zoals onafhankelijkheid van commerciële belangen, waarheidsgetrouwe informatievoorziening en transparantie over de totstandkoming en verspreiding van informatie!

But it's also a fact that this system is running in other places already for some time, and it's planned to get introduced soon, so the question is if enough residents are really planning to do something with it.

The housing corporation on the campus of @utwente is planning to replace all locks of ~2500 students living there with digital locks, that you can only unlock with your phone (via NFC).

Some students are very concerned about these plans, so I just went to the UT to talk with @Brian , one of the concerned students.

I'm very curious for replies with privacy / ethics arguments around these digital locks.
