Some cool HDR news today, Martin Stransky who works on Firefox for us at Red Hat, mentioned in his status report today that he got HDR support working in Firefox on his own system. Still more work needed, but hopefully we can have a HDR ready Firefox shipping in the next Fedora Workstation release! #linux #fedora #firefox #hdr #color

Trying to sell my car on Facebook marketplace, drowning in scammers and non serious people. Concluded that there is a law of nature that any site or service on the Internet eventually turns to garbage.

Been talking to @wtay recently about enabling HDR webcam support under @pipewire and @fedora. So both the Logitech BRIO and the Dell UltraSharp webcams claim to support it for instance, but it will be interesting to see to what level once we start digging in. #linux #pipewire

Hey, anyone knows if its possible to lie to Steam games about the version of the NVIDIA driver? Is it possible to get the driver or steam to report a slightly higher version number in order to deal with the linux driver lagging slightly behind the Windows driver version and thus failing games testing for said version?

Been thinking about the movie the Minority report a lot in the context of AI engines hallucinating. II read somewhere that OpenAI had started having a second AI engine built into their AI engine in order to try to deal with hallucination. So maybe the future of AI is the 'minority report solution' of having 3 AI enginees answer and have them vote if they disagree. Of course this does bring up the question of power usage requirements... #ai

A little #PIpeWire tip I learned today. If you want to use OBS Studio with a Google Meet session in Firefox. Start OBS Studio first, if not Firefox will set a format for the camera that OBS Studio do not support and you get a black box in OBS Studio. The other way is fine.
Wim is working on a proper solution, adding video conversion to PipeWire, but for now the ordering do matter.

With the work being done on the display stack around HDR and color management there is a risk that some of the older stuff fall to the side. Is there anyone reading this using or relying on the ICC color profiles for printers? Is it useful? I been told it basically isn't, but I would love to hear a counterargument if anyone got one. #linux #printing #fedora #colormanagement

While we spent a lot of effort making sure Fedora Workstation is a great place to do gaming, I think I have to give Bazzite credit for most of this growth:

Tested the 555 driver on my Fedora Workstation NVIDIA system this weekend and so far all 'blinking' is gone for XWayland applications. Especially Minecraft and Chrome was giving me issues and both of those now work fine. So a big thanks to Michel Daenzer, Jonas Ådahl, Carlos Soriano, Sebastian Wick and everyone at NVIDIA for collaborating on solving this issue by getting explicit sync implemented across the stack. #linux #fedora #nvidia #wayland
