I really should find some Northern Ontarian #curling fan merch and wear it to work...

This Monday is full of fail...

On the bright side, I've typed the bit locker key correctly five times in a row now, so Yay me?

Man I'm sick of people using intuitive, state based troubleshooting!

(i.e. guessing what's wrong and randomly unplugging and replugging stuff until they think it 'works')

Weird #powershell question for the mastohordes...

»»»» $expiryDate = (Get-Date).AddDays(-3)

»»»» new-item test.txt

»»»» Test-Path -Path 'test.txt' -NewerThan $expiryDate

True

[#] as expected, but

»»»» Test-Path -PathType Leaf -Path 'test.txt' -NewerThan $expiryDate

Test-Path : A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'NewerThan'.

WTF? Why does it forget it has newerThan as soon as you add pathtype?

Signed back into #wotblitz for the first time in years and played a couple dozen rounds. I'm still better than average, but not great, and there are still a lot of mouthy lousy players, and a hundred variations on loot boxes.

Game itself is still fun though. Trying not to get sucked back in.

Grrr #python.... Last week pipx and pre-commit were making me happy.

This week, I just wanted to add ansible-lint

Now I have pages of 'nope' pretending to be error log files, on both a Windows box, and a Linux box.

Different from each other of course.

Why is this crud so frustrating, time after time?

It's funny, I never realized before just how cathartic Mastodon's private notes could be!

I know #devs like to talk about feeling good when they delete code, but really, it's nowhere near as nice as a #sysadmin feels when he permanently shuts down a 12 year old server.

Busy weekend, with an actual guest for dinner (weird...) and the resultant required tidying etc.

But I did manage to get a blog post in there somewhere...

Still trying to find the balance between chatty info and detailed instructions.

I wonder if "Hopamedia" is that Voip company that pitched me hard around 2020... Trying to come up with a name, RingCentral maybe.

You know, it doesn't matter how many times #ansible reports it successfully copied your cupsd.conf file to /etc/postfix - cups is still not configured the way you want it.

It's Monday, right?

Is there a generic testing, uh, framework I guess you'd call it?

E.g. #Pester is for PowerShell

Is there one that will work across say #python, #baah, #powershell generically?

Or is that a dumb question? I'd like to learn a bit of test driven development, but don't want to have to learn multiple testing methodologies

That toy blog I've started up keeps floating around in the back of my head over the last couple weeks.

I'm starting to realize I haven't been entirely truthful with myself. I guess I really do want some external validation, more than I let on.

Heck the number of times I check here to see if anybody likes my comments should have been a clue.

Guess I'd better actually put some time aside to get some of these wandering thoughts out of my head.
