Stuck in my HOA Budget meeting. Nobody likes that our dues are going up. It’s not exactly our fault that insurance has gone up by 6x over the last five years. We have to budget for a projected increase of up to 20%.

But hey, let’s complain to the volunteers who had to compile the numbers instead of doing anything about climate change five decades ago.

Watching Seven Days in May (Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas 1964). It’s about a military coup against an unpopular president. Of course in this one the fascists were in the military, not the White House.

Seriously, the first 10 minutes of this are worth a watch. The camera work, tracking shots, action, all remarkable for early film.

I’m also not surprised Janet Gaynor won best actress for her performance in this and Sunrise.

Apparently Sunrise is #11 on BFI’s greatest films of all time list. I can see why Janet Gaynor got an academy award for this (and two other movies, they were just figuring out the awards then).

Sunrise is dark, straight into infidelity and murder. I sometimes forget how powerful German Expressionism was.

I’m enjoying A Star is Born (1937), which ironically is one of Janet Gaynor’s last films. But surprisingly, that’s the only film of this academy award winning actress on any of my four major streaming platforms.

It’s amazing having thousands of films at our fingertips, but there’s so much film history that’s missing.

I’ve been watching Adolphe Menjou movies, but I can only find 12 of 150.

I love John Barrymore, but he’s also rare

The stupid thing about the bill banning TikTok is it doesn’t do anything to prevent user data going to the Chinese government. It just wants China to pay a U.S. company when it wants US customer data. We already know F🤬🤬🤬book, Google, and others will happily sell them our data.

Because of course our government assumes China is doing what our government does.

The whole thing is really just a mob shakedown.

Crusade is the part that I get to play the least but I’m most excited about 40K.

I really want to figure out a way to do a co-op campaign with a friend’s sisters and my guard. But that would require an enemy army for us to play against. I do have a bundle of Dark Eldar I got from a friend … or maybe boarding actions against my meager Genestealers (from space hulk)

Reading Uncle Fred in the Springtime, one of Wodehouse’s non-Jeeves books. It is of course amusing so far, but it does have some casual black face. Very English imperial, the aristocracy love dressing up as their conquered subjects.

I’m definitely a little annoyed that Imperial Guard infantry can no longer take a heavy weapon in the squad, changing ~30 years of unit orientation.

I’m sure friendly games I’ll be able to keep using them, and I’ll have enough models to play a legit army in tournaments.

At least Krieg are still on 25mm so I don’t have to rebase a hundred guys for at least an edition.

Once the new codex comes out I’ll have to figure out how my army fits together again. The classic infantry squad with heavy weapons is going to legendary status, which annoys but doesn’t surprise me. I will likely run my guys as Krieg, but I could mix it up.

Tanks will always be tanks at least.

The upcoming release of the Imperial Guard Codex plus my local store’s apocalypse event in two weeks has me excited about 40K again. Need to build 20 rough riders to be ready for the event. Will be my last game with the index, I think it arrived the day of the game.
