The problem with self identification can be that it makes you a target. Yellow stars. Paperclips. White roses. If you are trying to draw fire away to protect someone, good on ya. Or if you are drawing a personal line in the sand and you have the support and fortitude to see it through to the end, also good on ya. But if you're just trying to exist it can be scary with the violent deplorables around.

The mainstream media actively tearing down Hillary Clinton over innocuous emails (and ignoring the much worse threats from the orange turd and his cabinet).

The weasel wording over a treasonous insurrection by far too many people.

The Biden is too old from the moment when the orange turd is up there himself.

Using "the economy" and "the price of eggs" to cover up misogyny and racism.

I am not interested in replies to this. Post on your own account if you have issues with this.

In my own lifetime, the horrible decisions that messed up what could have been a good run of decades:

Ford pardoning Nixon.

Carter's warnings in that speech ignored.

Reagan ripping the solar panels off the white house.

Reagan destroying unions, starting with the union of air traffic controllers.

I watched the original British version of "Ghosts" 📺 on HBO for 2 episodes and was enjoying it. Then they yanked it. Happily, my Public Library has 3 seasons on DVD.

While I identify most with the Stanley Tucci character in the 🎬 movie "Conclave" , I understand why the Ralph Fiennes character is seen as the leader of this event, able to work the different personalities without losing himself. Pretty good movie, too.

Didn't go far, just to the Public Library drop off box but the new studded tires and "Pogies" made a huge difference on my backup bicycle today. Those tires were expensive but more than made up for the cost when I was able to bicycle up my re-iced (since being cleared) steep driveway.

It's climate change. Proof in North Carolina, proof in California.

There's still people denying it. It's the whole movie "Don't Look Up" for real in the United States of America.

@ascentale @plactagonic

A6. In 2016 Summer from May 31st till July 2nd I bicycled the Adventure Cycling Association's Underground Railroad Route UGRR.

By myself from Mobile, Alabama then with others I joined at a campground just outside of Cincinnati in Milford, OH. Warm Showers organization helped a lot.

Made it to Niagara Falls.

I knew I'd miss my wife, I was really thrown by how much I missed our cat after a week.

Bicycling was the easiest part.

These are from a drain pipe in the back of our house. The round bit on the left has been there since the first day it got cold in November.

These icicles would have destroyed the pipes of our former home in North Alabama before they came out of the pipes. We did have that happen when the pipes froze so much it backed up into the kitchen sink and cracked the pipe. Had to have our contractor friend build a wood cabin around our outside pipe.

Still too cold, but I needed to get out. Bicycled around town for a bit, then went to the library. My SouthEast ears are having to adjust to hearing MidWest accents. A [bag] "beck" is a "bahg".

This is a great library for such a small town. Defend your library from narrow minds, and make sure they're funded. Join the board if you can.

Too cold for me. -13.33 Celsius. Tried to do it anyway. Took me 5 hours to finally get warm inside after I got home. This has happened to me in the past in the SouthEast and the SouthWest plains areas no matter how many layers I've worn whenever it's lower than -7.77 C. I guess it takes time to adapt. The wind was brutal, even with wearing safety goggles.

Just realized Ken Follet's "Kingsbridge" book series hits the same spot as C.S. Lewis' "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" does for me. Worlds and characters I enjoy so much I don't want to leave it and read far more slowly with more breaks so I can stay there a bit longer.

Put supernatural characters and other species (maybe even time travelers) in Kingsbridge and it would be even closer to my intetests.

Dreamed last night of a movie, "A Christmas Story" but it's a Bollywood movie in India with a hot metal slide and instead of Santa Claus it's Ganesh the 🐘 elephant whose foot comes down toward [not Ralphie]. Definitely a dream because Ganesh said "ho ho ho."

Good church service at my wife's home church except for the part of where the fill-in Pastor didn't understand Presbyterians don't ever do altar calls. I always found them creepy in the Methodist church I was raised in and it's very icky in the Baptists churches I've visited.

It's one thing when someone studies to be confirmed and a willing participant, a whole other thing when there's disregarding of the mutual consent without pressure part.

I can't argue with their lived experiences, pain is pain, but I personally do know that the WPA planted so many seeds for creativity in all the arts and necessary infrastructure that is still working almost a century later. If it wasn't for the New Deal and the WPA a lot of the people who were complaining about it wouldn't have been around to complain. There weren't any other good options at that time.
