Anyone able to recommend a map app that includes public transport info? I would love to bin off google maps but I also need to get around, sometimes unexpectedly and in unfamiliar areas using the UK's shitty public transport

Folks, I've just been invited to join a climate charity's team doing (very occasional) paid (very minimally) course facilitation.

I'm overcome at being recognised as worthy in this space. It's not about the money but the idea that a charity would put precious funding into getting my time on this.

I am crying with happiness. Work and my place in it have felt so thankless and upsetting for a while. What a welcome, validating boost.

It feels a timely point to try and switch to Linux, choosing an excellent used laptop to do it. Is there a good UK source for those, where you can trust the hardware to be decent?

If useful, I use a MacBook running macOS Ventura ATM. I think I've identified a distro. Minimum system requirements:

4 GB RAM

Intel i3

15 GB SSD

wifi connectivity

Far, far too hot for the 25th of December. The Met Office forecast we may see record-setting high temperatures today. Another Christmas of uncanny weather thanks to our ceaseless acceleration of climate change.
