A new start

I hope everybody in gopherspace has been having an enjoyable festive

period! Greetings to recently joined Zaibatsu sundogs parker[1] and

Flatline[2]!

December was a very busy month for me - as I mentioned way back in

my ROOPHLOC post[3] last year, I moved from Finland to Sweden in

December, and will start a new job here later this month. We arrived

in our new home just a few days before Christmas, and December was

more or less a panicked and stressful blur of packing and cleaning and

tying up loose ends both personal and professional (not all ends got

well-tied in time, and I'll be taking a quick trip back sometime in

January, mostly to collect the Franken Peugeot!). Because of this I

was far less active online than usual, so apologies to anybody who has

been frustrated by my silence in Mastodon threads or the Gemini

mailing list, etc. Normalcy should start slowly resuming from now on.

I am hoping that I can harvest the energy and enthusiasm associated

with a new start in a new country to also make 2020 a good year for my

various hobby projects. After archiving a lot of abandoned accounts,

the Zaibatsu has more room for new sundogs than it has a long time,

and I hope perhaps that newcomers can revitalise the shell community

there. Gemini has been stuck for a while now bikeshedding various

markup concerns, which I would like to finally move past so we can

begin creating and aggregating content to make 2020 the Year of Gemini

on the Desktop. I have also, to my pleasant surprise, regained my

mojo for hobby electronics and might start some new projects on that

front this year too.
