~ew responded kindly to my climate anxiety post about the Internet's climate effects:

It's well worth a read, and I highly recommend the Low Tech Magazine article they link to (among others; that site has a lot of great brainfood).
I love how ~ew gives tips on the small things we can do to be less bad for the climate. It's very much important to point out that this is not an all or nothing situation. Every little thing counts.
It's also important to be humble about the fact that this is hard. Very, very hard. I for one used to be a lot better at this stuff just a year or so ago, but it always seems like a constant struggle. We have to remember that consumption simplifies our lives, and sometimes life is too hard to allow for the extra complexity that not consuming entails.
I know that sounds horrible. That the default solution is to buy more, or buy new, or get another streaming service. It's a reality we need to reckon with, however. And we must be wary of casting judgement on our fellow humans; we live in this system and survive as best we can. The big differences can only be made on the larger arenas by the bigger players.
But every little thing counts.
