Anyway, let’s celebrate 1.0 by all sending a huge hug to Solderpunk for both creating Gemini and AV-98, son of VF-1 and father of Offpunk. Who is joining?
I am truly amazed by the work Ploum has done on Offpunk. I haven't yet tried it because I'm stuck in my AV-98 habits at the moment, but each time Ploum reveals a new feature or milestone I recognize it as something I want my hypothetical future GUI browser do. The offline browsing, the multiple protocol support, the RSS reader and article viewer.
It's an amazing collection of features, especially for a CLI browser. And the features are all no-frills get-it-done kind of stuff. No time wasted on things that won't be used by the average Offpunk user. At least that's what I envision: the offline nature of it is the big selling point and all features are made to support that. Well, I guess viewing images in the terminal is a bit of bling, but why not? :D
And I gladly join the chorus and send Solderpunk a few virtual hugs if he'll have them. Personally I feel that gemini and the tools built for it have added value to my everyday life.
