OK Go Is a Strange Loop

2025-01-18 - [53] 11:4

I just watched OK Go's latest music video and HOLY CRAP!

=> OK Go - A Stone Only Rolls Downhill (Official Video)

64 videos used to make this video, ALL OF WHICH ARE 1 TAKE ONLY!

The first minute and 30 seconds in terms of medium is pretty straight forward, although lining up shots is pretty impressive up to that point. It's what I EXPECTED this music video to be... BUT NOPE! It just had to be an incredibly tangled up strange loop! The thing is though... it can't be irrepairably tangled, because ALL OF THE VIDEOS ARE JUST 1 TAKE EACH!!! It should, in theory, be possible to work backwards to get a general sense of how this was done, but I will not be able to follow everything backwards in a way that I get the whole picture. THEY HAD TO THINK/FOLLOW THIS ALL FORWARDS!!!

The scope of the amount of phones per video changes a lot in this music video. It's not like it's 1 phone to a few to a few more and just keeps increasing... The video shows 1 phone, then a few, then more, then all of that held inside 1 phone held inside another phone held inside another phone. The scope grows and shrinks and grows again, where 1 can hold many and many can hold 1... AND DID I MENTION ALL OF THE VIDEOS ARE JUST 1 TAKE EACH!?!?!?

There is also a short "behind the scenes" video uploaded to the channel of the project management organization "Project Management Institute" that helped make this music video possible.

All I can say is, good freaking work, Project Management Institute! This music video is one heck of an addition to a portfolio! And good job, OK Go, another AMAZING music video! You really outdone yourselves!

Our main topline is to find that feels like... a little spark of magic

Well, you certainly achieved that! This music video is going to be what I show people when they ask what a "strange loop" is.
