Critical Mass

Usually cars rule the streets in the big cities. Once a month it changes in some places. Every month, last friday night bicicles are crowding the streets of Berlin. Its "Critical Mass" - when literally thousands of cyclists and bike enthusiasts reclaim the streets of berlin and form a big bicycle ralley around the city.

Tonight I joined the CM in Berlin - and it was awesome. The starting place in Berlin-Kreuzberg was already full of people with all kind of bicycles, some had sound systems on their cargo bikes or backpacks and it made a nice festival athmosphere. The start through Kreuzberg was a bit slowly and it took some time until the ride started to get more fluid and steady. Police men tried to calm down rabid car drivers but cyclists kept their good mood and had a lot of fun.

After three hours of riding i got tired and went home. It was an awesome and great night. And a good feeling to be with that many bicycle enthusiast! For the future - system change not climate change!
