Having learned English by osmosis, I try to look words up just to check (because, rarely but sometimes, my definitions are way off)... So GLEN is a valley like I thought, but specifically "a secluded narrow valley". Heh.
NIGGLE (v) trifle, spend too much time on needless details; carp; gnaw (on)... There is a separate British definition, as a noun: a trifling doubt, objection, or complaint. NIGG- words require special care, as we know. I see more and more writing advice such as 'Avoid the word "snigger"', etc...
