eaten by the trees

now that you're alone

in the pouring rain

forget about the past

and get eaten by the trees

the swaying tamaracks,

the silhouetted pines,

tall poetic poplars,

and ceders everywhere

they're all leaning over

haunting you like ghosts

they sing that haunting song

of silence and remorse

and you dance with the trees

like a madman in the woods

because no-one understands you

but the forest understands you.

The stars up in the sky

The water in the stream

the mountains in the distance

the northern summer wind

and if you stop you'll notice

that they're all slowly crying

and i'm sure you can relate

because you're crying, too
