A demoscene production, or a demo for short, is a way to show off one's skill in realtime audiovisual programming of computers. The realtime part is important, since it's harder to make the computer calculate the effects on the fly rather than have it pre-render them forever and a day beforehand.
To the uninvited it looks like weird screensavers, to the initiated it's like a drug.
