This is an excellent summary that I feel has been missing in the materials I have read so far on Stoicism. In exploring the Dichotomy of Control, most things that are considered under our control have to do with our ability to respond to a situation. The problem with this is that we’re not in full control of that because a large part of our response is subconscious or chemical and it’s only through the effort of shaping our character that we are able to bring those under control. But immediately, without any caveats that I can think of, this is absolutely under control.
