While creating the Makefile targets for gemini capsules creation I discovered that passing the --standalone object when converting from markdown to markdown pandoc includes the YAML header in the resulting output markdown.
This made for some very strange interpretation by md2gemini that briefly inserted a page divider and bulleted list of tags at the top of each note.
I had to use markdown_strict as the output on this system, but just markdown worked on another.
An update here: markdown_strict is also key in getting citations expanded into notes.
Another update: I use 7off now instead of md2gemini.
