# Using Keyoxide through Tor (an alternative to Keybase proofs)
A few months ago I learned about Keyoxide[1] which is a way to verify online identities by signing them in your PGP key then adding your PGP key ID as data to those online accounts to prove you control both the PGP key and that account. This is like the verification feature in Keybase, but all open source.

I wanted to know if this could be done through Tor to provide added privacy when verifying someone's key. So I was successful in spinning up a few dockers to generate the Tor services and https certificates for a Keyoxide site that has both https and Tor addresses. The developer of Keyoxide even accepted some pull requests I made to add the onion-location header in the website response. Very nice!
I realized I never wrote about this yet here on my blog, and today is a perfect opportunity because I just updated my Codeberg repo that has all the docker-compose pieces you need to setup your very own Tor enable Keyoxide website.
