Eighty days ago I started a programming project which is due in a few weeks. In order meet this deadline; I have been at this workstation on average 17 hours a day, seven days a week ever since.

Before starting, knowing what I getting into, I took some care in setting up some very intentional user input devices to test out in a full grind mode situation.

At VCFMW last fall, I picked up a NOS ps2 MS Intellimouse (ball mouse with a wheel).

I removed the original (black ALPS) switches from a vintage Dell AT101W keyaboard. I replaced them with newly manufactured white ALPS clone switches (from Matias).

After >1360 hours of non-stop typing work, I give this combo full marks!

@danrl As long as there is nothing stressful involved, I can handle a few months of hardcore mode. A few years back I had a few of these jobs back to back / overlapping + stress and ended up in the ER, so I am very careful now.

Setting up the desk and UI just right makes for a pretty relaxing work experience, but wow am I tired of writing python about now :) ยท 2 years ago

impressive setup. are you taking good care of yourself, too? these deadline projects can be extremely fulfilling but i also had some exhaustive experiences which i partly regret in hindsight. take care! ยท 2 years ago
