is there a Gemini based messaging app? We鈥檝e got station which is more like a microblogging service and there are also several IRC like systems. Is there anything more akin to email or SMS messaging on Gemini? Seems like it could be a fun weekend project.

@gritty It's not a portal, but a smol social network thingy with a Gemini frontend which speaks ActivityPub under the hood. DMs are basically "unlisted" posts with only one user in their list of recipients. It's very new and I think it has <=2 active users. 路 2 years ago

I think for chatting you should use the respective protocols, like IRC, xmpp, matrix, etc. That is what they are made for! 路 2 years ago

@dimkr I thought there was a web interface but maybe not! 路 2 years ago

@dimkr that's pretty neat. is it a Gemini portal to post on mastodon / activity pub? how many people use Gemini versus the web to interact with the service? 路 2 years ago

I implemented DMs in gemini://hd.206267.xyz, but it's more like SMS and less like chat 路 2 years ago
