Apparently the lesbians on mastodon are onto something. I installed NixOS on an old laptop I got in like 2016 or 2017 or something and I'm really quite enjoying it. I'm currently going on a cross country train ride and I opted for using this laptop rather than my macbook air. I'm honestly surprised by the number of packages that are available, I was expecting to miss the AUR. I'm used to having to prepare for a headache every time I update my system so hopefully Nix will be a nice change of pace.

Its ability to easily roll back packages is pretty nuts. I feel like I can screw with basically anything and know I can put the system back together again, quickly. · 10 months ago
