it'd be cool to put together a successor of sorts, some kind of collaboration compilation project of lofi or adjacent music, only what if instead of pulled free license sources: if the music compiled were musicians here on geminispace?

Also, to answer your question a bit, I don't really know all the details of why it's stopped but the person behind the compilations decided to retire the project as being completed some time ago this year. After which, people decided to go ahead and personally archive the releases.
