From Smolweb to Smolwebhosting ... having oodles of fun with Alpine Linux based LXC containers. 10MB disk and 1.56 MB RAM usage out of the box. Starting to obsess over how to make effective use of them with just 16MB of RAM assigned and keeping disk usage below ~40MB. Just the thing to do with hundreds of GB of RAM sitting idle waiting for use.

@hanzbrix agreed. I'm not too big on containers as such but those alpine lxc containers are truly fun. Combined compiled and optimized binaries for APIs or whatnot this could indeed be quite an interesting way to provide real world service on a micro scale. 路 3 months ago

@captainrantcraft miniaturization or imposed limits, is part of what makes development fun. It becomes all about how much can you do with how little. I think that is where people get their fascination for 8-bit computers. 馃槀 路 3 months ago
