Thanks to some unexpected funds coming in unexpectedly, we found ourselves in the fortunate position of being able to pull the trigger on solar power generation for the house. We have a large, south-facing roof, and with four people at home most of the time we use a lot of domestic energy, so solar generation had always been on the "when we have the money" list. But now it's actually going ahead.

It will be a 5Kw (more or less) system - as much as can be squeezeed into the available space - with any surplus energy going to a water heater. Estimates suggested there wouldn't enough of a surplus to warrant installing a battery as well, especially if an EV comes into the picture next year, but the option is there to add one later.

Installation should be 4-6 weeks away. Let's go.
