The walnut tree

Today, for the first time ever, I picked a walnut from a walnut tree. Like most fresh nuts it was softer and brighter than dried nuts in the stores but the shell was as hard and sealed as any other walnut.

Sometimes it is amazing to consider what really does grow on trees.
