I'll be helping a friend "move in" to this server on the weekend, so she can host her own gemlog on my server space. I'm kinda excited to be able to do this - it's certainly not going to make any noticeable difference to my server space nor server load, and it's another person successfully convinced to join the world of alternative internet protocols 😆
I had to re-acquaint myself with how Agate — the Gemini server software I use — actually works. Shoutout to Matt Brubeck who not only has created some fairly easy to use software but also provided quite good documentation. I had to rearranged my directories a bit so that I can host two sites at different URLs (as "virtual hosts", and a small adjustment to the flags when calling agate, but that's it.
Hooray for eccentric hobbyist technology and for people who care enough to make good documentation and keep things simple.
