For most of my life I believed that I couldn't draw. I think this is partly because some members of my family are naturally good at it which caused me to write myself off. But I also know that with many things in life if you start practicing then you get better.
In 2015 I decided to try and push myself through my lack of skill. I did four pencil sketches of garden scenes. They weren't great but I surprised myself.
In 2019 I tried drawing a building: starting with some studies before doing a final piece.
=> Building (study) | Building (study) | Building (final)
Next I sketched some animals and surprised myself again.
=> Rhino | Elephant | Woodcock | Mouse
I've experimented with watercolours. My attempts at mixing my own colours were clumsy and heavy.
=> Lighthouse | Stag
But watercolour pencils washed over with a brush yielded more satisfactory results.
=> Camel | Trout | Curlew | Gargoyle
I've also tried other media.
=> Canoe (ink) | Tiger (ink over watercolour) | Bargue Plate 1.8 (sharpie)
~
=> I've made timelapse films of some pieces
=> I'm working my way through Bargue's Cours de Dessin
=> I've made sketches of some of my adventures
I've also made postcards of my art.
If you'd like a print or a postcard of any of these then please get in touch and I'll figure something out. I'd love to send you something!
