Favicons In The Wild

On a whim, I ran my script again to scrape for /favicon.txt on all of the hosts listed in geminispace.info. Man, there's a lot more gemini hosts than there used to be!

788 total hosts, 107 (!) of which I was able to find a favicon.txt file of some kind. That's 14% of all servers! Quite surprising considering I'm not aware of any gemini clients that even support favicons anymore.

Is there more traffic coming through https://portal.mozz.us than I realize? I should probably look at the logs one of these days. I've been blissfully ignoring it and the server seems to be chugging along with only a handful of allotted threads. Although, I have been noticing stalled pages occasionally so maybe it's time to beef up that number...

It's fun to see so much diversity in the choices for emoji characters. I especially love the ones that tie into the theme of the capsule like (gemini.djinn.party 🧞‍♀️), (krafty.dog 🐶), and (mothbaby.flounder.online 🪰).
