Micro

2021-08-07

Today I'm writing a little about the extremely exciting topic of text editors. I found a new one recently that I don't see mentioned very often. Well, at least not as often as the classics like nano, vim, and emacs.

It's called micro and I've switched to it from vim without looking back.

To me it's the best of both nano and vim -- admittedly the only two text editors I've spent some time with. It's super approachable because it just feels like writing in any other modern program out there. At the same time it comes with all the power features a vim noob like me cared about, but has them in such a way that they're easy to learn.

Did I mention it recognizes and highlights gemini markdown out of the box?

Definitely give micro a look if you haven't yet and you feel slightly unproductive in your current terminal text editor.
