Just found out about Gpub

I found out about the Gpub format today. I even wrote about my surprise over Lagrange supporting it natively. I really liked the idea and concept of using gemtext for an ebook instead of HTML & CSS. It makes way too much sense!

Although given gemtext's limited text treatment, I would want to go a step further and prefer ebooks distributed with Markdown instead. I know that's a bit messy largely because there isn't one single specification for it now.

I also lament that it's not more widely supported, so if I want to read anything published as a gpub, I'll need to have it converted to the epub format, which comes with all that HTML & CSS overhead.

Maybe someday, I'll have an eInk device where I can just install my own apps...like the BOOX tablets. Maybe by then, there will also be a lot more options out there!

Until then, if I write anything worth publishing in a collected format, I'll be sure to provide a gpub version. Hell, it'd be the source format!

Oh, and if anyone's curious about my gushing over Lagrange supporting gpub out of the box:

=> "Lagrange supports gpub?!"

And for those curious about the gpub (Gempub) format:

=> Gempub format
