I run my own wallabag instance, and while it's pretty easy to run, it is an absolute pain in the arse to set up, compared to most PHP apps these days.

It's possible to set it up through yunohost ( https://yunohost.org ), which is basically some scripts you run in Debian that allow you to self-host and manage your instances of a lot of different software in a point-and-click fashion. I use it with all my personal instances, it's really easy to set up (and I'm not very knowledgeable in web sysadmin).
