there are lots of american-type words in here! i had fun reading them :-]
macy's, chicken tender, t-mobile, all these terms that we don't hear very much in my corner of the planet. these days, i've been listening to the 'fibber mcgee and molly' programme quite often, and they used a lot of american terms on there too.
your quip about feeling strange in a mall food court was quite intruiging, too. in my country, the shopping mall business (if one can refer to it as such!) is thriving like never before, but i've seen from things on-line, that american shopping malls are starting to die out, on account of digital shopping's influence. where do all the teen-agers hang out now, then?
the local shopping mall was a favourite spot for my peers and i when we were younger. it seemed as though every holiday, the kids from our high-school would gather there to loiter and fool about! it was always,
"meet you at northmeadow mall!"
"are you going northmeadow after class?"
(the mall name changed for privacy reasons, hehehe.)
when i finished high school, i spent about eight months working at that mall, in a health foods shop on the first floor. loathed it entirely, though it made for some good experience, i suppose. met my fair share of irritating ex-hippies, they would always complain about us not having a specific brand of essential oil or something. funnily enough, the nicest customers were the super macho, ripped and rippling bodybuilder-type men who would come up to me all-smiles and ask where the protein powder was.
gosh, i tend to ramble.
