it finally happened

When I signed up here I was looking for a new home for my thoughts because I believed the platform I'd been using for several years, vent.co, was closing down. It was saved at very much the last minute, but last week we were given 7 days notice that it was ending, for real this time.

It's been gone 25 hours now.

Well, it is still there but only as a static archive, and only til the end of this month. We can log in and take screenshots or attempt to download our data but it's essentially a ghost town now: we can't post or interact with our friends.

We have scattered to other apps but none are quite right and we will forever miss our safe space.

I doubt that I will post here more than sporadically because my dear friends are not here. I'm trying to adapt to bluesky.app but everything's public and I don't feel safe.
