@GottaLaff They have been jonesing to sell off post offices for eons. That property is worth billions. Plus then to get our mail we have to pay Amazon exorbitant rates. State Capture of services is always a first step. (It’s called State Capture because private entities capture things normally run by the “State” ie federal government. The name always stops me for a sec.)

@Pineywoozle @GottaLaff @L1vY @taniel

I can tell you Amazon doesn’t want it. They want to have USPS do last mile service for a low, low rate.

@Tengrain Yeah but I think their work around will be to make usps workers contract employees or some other ugly plan and have them work out of old malls. 😜 @GottaLaff @L1vY @taniel

@Tengrain Plus tRump doesn’t care if Amazon wants it. He’ll syphon off the cash and let it be other people’s problem. It will also fuck with mid term voting. So win win win.

@Tengrain I don’t really know what they’ll try those are just guesses but I know it won’t be for the benefit of the American people.

@Pineywoozle

Who would want a private business that by design can never be profitable?

It’s the level-of-service to reach every person in the country. If Republicans can get rid of that, then it is no different than UPS (who also don’t want to own USPS).

@Tengrain To destroy it if they can’t charge enough to make it profitable. To destroy mail in voting. Who would push killing off grannie with COVID so the Government wouldn’t have to pay SS and the work force would go back to the office earlier… It’s the GOP, they often have lots of reasons normal decent Americans would never even think of… It’s also specifically the oligarchs, strip a business of any assets, then dump it. I don’t know but I know it’s one of their goals.

@Pineywoozle

Sure,I agree with you that is a goal, but why would (for instance) Bezos care about that goal? With the obvious exception of Musk (who seems to be a fascist for fascism’s sake), I cannot imagine one of the billionaires making the case to their BODs to buy the thing.

@Tengrain Plenty of obscenely wealthy fellow travelers in the GOP orbit who can be led by their egos to think they could be the one to make a go of it…

@Pineywoozle

The phrase, “What’s in it for ME?” is always what is on their minds.

There’s business decisions and personal decisions.

$500M to buy a yacht? No problem!

$5B to flush down the drain for a goal that benefits someone else? No way!

@Tengrain Musk flushed plenty to destroy Twitter. His initial goal was to make it profitable.Thet was never the goal of his investors. He had big plans to sell the punters Doge coins then sell blue checkmarks for Doge coins, to make it have all kinds of other functions. Never underestimate guys who were born on third base who think they’re home run hitters. That worked well in that he damaged elections and his business but still came out on top (ish)

@Pineywoozle

I’ll also add that Musk and the 4th Reich can destroy USPS without buying it, just as they are doing with the rest of the Federal government.

@Tengrain Absolutely. Squeezing it for assets like the property, then any means to destroy it is fine. The only reason to buy it would be to get some degree of speed in its total destruction or to get money out of some ego driven idiot who thinks “they” can make it work. No where in any rational mind does this end with a functioning post office, that benefits Americans.

@Pineywoozle

Lock the doors at the processing plants would do it and not cost the fascists anything.

But then again, locking out Union workers usually gets an injunction immediately.

At any rate, they can eff it up a million ways to Sunday without buying it.

@Tengrain I agree there are, but I never discount ego, hubris and that weird deluded desire to be “the one” who could make it work. As an artist, I’ve met a fair number of obscenely wealthy men over the years. There is an odd disconnect from what you or I would think would be normal choices in some of them directly related to their perceived & real imbalance of power. .
