So my dad has been really worried lately about me with all the transphobia and fascism going around, especially down in Florida . He is trying super hard to learn and even to educate people around him, it's very sweet.
The other day he almost punched someone just for saying the word faggot that they were repeating as part of something someone else said, and was angry about it for a whole day afterwards.
I've been working with him on giving him resources he can hand out to ppl, and also on tactics he can use to try to push through some of the right wing propaganda.
He's come a very long way in a year of my transition, at the beginning he was so unsure and now he is the biggest ally in my life. I'm so proud of the growth he's gone through to really understand the LGBTQ community, and I'm glad that my continuous effort to educate him is paying off.
If you have people in your life that are on the fence please take this as a sign to try and push them to our side, even if it takes a while. Not everyone can grow, but seeing the way my dad has grown and learned has given me so much hope that others can too if we give them the space and compassion to do so.
