"Nobody lost more money Monday as the stock market reacted to President Donald Trump’s tariffs than Elon Musk, Trump’s self-described “first buddy” and the world’s richest person, as shares of Musk’s electric vehicle company Tesla struggled."

Tesla shares lost 5.17% of their value and Musk lost $11.8 Billion from his net worth.

In China, Tesla's biggest market outside the U.S. sales were up in 2024, but their actual market share went down. Their share of the Chinese EV market went from 7.6% in 2023 to 6% in 2024. This was mostly down to having aging models in an increasingly competitive market. 2025 is forecast to be the year where Chinese branded EVs overtake and outperform Tesla in the Chinese market in a big way.

And this was all before Trump started a trade war with China....

Bonus points in the Don't buy Nazi cars competition have got to go to Norway. Not only did they see a 38% drop in Tesla sales last year, this was in a rapidly increasing market for EVs. In Norway, EV sales accounted for an amazing 96% of all new vehicle sales last year.

Boycotting Nazis AND saving the planet? I'm in!

Now this one has got to hurt. In Ireland, Tesla was the Number 1 selling electric car brand last year.

The sales figures for January show that it's not even in the top ten. It was beaten by Volkswagen, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, Peugeot, Volvo, Byd, MG, Ford and Skoda.

Musk is a feckin' eedjit.

In the U.K. Tesla sales dropped a measly 12% in January compared to January last year.

In the Don't buy a Nazi car competition, the U.K. seems to be lagging behind other countries, but this headline figure is misleading. It doesn't account for the fact that, overall, EV sales in the U.K. got off to their best ever start to the year and jumped by 35% in January.

Tesla's U.K. market share is now down to 5%.

@JustinMac84

I know. We've had a rough few years, but there are some green shoots of recovery. You do have to look really hard though...

@ProjectFearlessness Let's hope so. Not seeing it atm. The UK being one of the few nations to block tax loophole prevention in the UN, not coming out more boldly to support the ICC, the Online Safety Act, The Bank Account Spying Bill, the Data Sharing Bill, the repeal of the Winter Fuel Allowance. Our Government is disappointing.
