@phoenixgee @L1vY @RebeccaSolnit I was just writing about that, and the problem therein — that you need a critical mass of people to participate in that, enough that it cripples the IRS trying to handle the sheer volume of disobedience; otherwise you just get a bunch of people who are royally screwed as the IRS destroys their lives.

@phoenixgee @L1vY @RebeccaSolnit The other problem is that many people — heck, including myself until a dumb miscalculation this year — get refunds in April, they don’t owe more. The taxes have already been paid.

The only way to do a true tax protest would be for everyone to file a new W-4 specifying no taxes withheld, which is, well, hard enough that most people are gonna have a lot of second thoughts and misgiving while in the process of doing it.

@gregly @L1vY @RebeccaSolnit Yeah i was briefly looking at W-4 rules for no-withholding and that would only work if one didn't owe taxes the previous year. So no-go for me :(
