Musk has rejected Congress's powers and appointed himself illegally as the sole arbiter of federal spending.

What makes it even scarier: He's crowdsourcing his ideas of what to cut to the Hitler fanboys and QAnoners that make up his Twitter following.

@AmandaMarcotte It should also be noted that Elmo & his Hitler Jugend squad have no idea how running a country of 340 million people works. If nobody manages to stop them, their tampering alone - even ignoring the stupid & malicious purposes - is going to make these complex systems, not just of software but of procedure, fall apart. It's like opening an electronic appliance, ripping out random parts because you don't like the color & expecting it to not only keep working, but work better.

@AmandaMarcotte And one of the amazing things to me is that Congress seems to be doing absolutely nothing about this unelected shadow-authoritarian usurping their Constitutional power of the purse. It's one of the powers that's explicitly given to them in Article I, and they're just handing it to him without so much as a whimper.
