I was listening to the Film at Lincoln Center Podcast today for an episode on Mississippi Masala and it’s 4K remastered version. It was for a NYFF event in 2021. Luckily when the film came out in ‘91 I saw it on the big screen. Need to figure out who is actually streaming the new version, I would expect Criterion since it was for the Criterion Collection, but their website doesn’t specify… I found it interesting that the DP Ed Lachman said:

“And we did something that was interesting. I wanted the comparison of Africa to Mississippi. So we shot Fuji in Africa, which lends itself to the greens, the yellows, the greens and the warm colors. And we shot Kodak in Mississippi. And then I shot with different lenses. I shot with older Cooke lenses in Africa and Zeiss High Speed, which are much sharper lenses in Mississippi.

You really feel it. You really feel it now, especially after the remaster.”

So I would love to see it again.
