I mean, don't get me wrong, if an extremely wealthy English barrister buys up a castle that was originally built for some other posh English person who nobody liked just so she could lord it over the whole Kyle of Carbisdale, prevents ppls right to roam over the land and starts goin "Right now I'm Lady Carbisdale" like, well, you're not gonna get along too well with ppl in one of the most northern parts of the Scottish Highlands (like, Sutherland is fuckin nooooooooorth, baby)
It always bugs me how Scotland gets a pass on bigotry when - and I hate to point out the fuckin obvious here - Scotland has plenty of anti-LGBTQIA+ sentiment, loads of racism and all the other shit up to and including being a major participator in colonialism.
And yes. It was subject to England's bullshit for a long goddamn time. Ppl were killed and driven off their land to be replaced by damn sheep. And England is still the oppressor in the region. Did it stop Scotland from trying to colonise Panama under the Darien Scheme, leading to near-bankruptcy and joining the UK? Has it stopped all these places thru the world bein named after some fucking coloniser with a Scottish name? Hard not to notice when you got shit like the Stuart Highway thru an Australian desert, or Alabama having a place called fucking Inverness. Nova Scotia is a bit of a fucking giveaway, ain't it?

So yes. Be critical of things. But for fuck's sake, don't assume a type of prejudice don't exist just cause someone's rich or posh or even just a massive asshole. I can hate on Caitlyn Jenner and Buck Angel for their shitty personalities and egregious ytness, cause it's got nothin to do with the fact they're trans. They're still, respectively, a woman, and a man. Even if they are, collectively, assholes.
Tho I gotta admit, it's a lot easier to hate on fuckin JK Rowling when she buys up a castle and starts tellin the Scots what to do.
