@SamanthaJaneSmith Thanks for sharing. It's horrific. Of course, in the UK, there's a 'if you don't look for the abuse, it isn't there' approach. I pray it's not as standard a part of the trans prison experience as it is in the US, but we just don't know. Deliberately

70% of #trans fem US prisoners report rape and sexual assault, with 90% being forced into marriage like arrangements with other prisoners. And if they resist they get charged with assault and extended sentences

@SamanthaJaneSmith We all know people can be psychopathically cruel. But what people need to know is that this is institutional prison system policy. State policy. It is under such circumstances that humans are capable of the very worst dehumanisation and the most egregious atrocities
