Great.
[#]systemd broke readonly-root support in #Fedora because it launches the readonly-root.service before LVM has finished populating devices where blkid can find them.
I was wondering why the statetab directories weren't getting mounted.

TIL: Fedora and systemd replaced readonly-root support with systemd-volatile-root which has about equal parts documentation https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd-volatile-root.service.html and configurability https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/main/src/volatile-root/volatile-root.c
God. Fucking. Damnit.

@xabean Looks like systemd is following a path of “embrace and extinguish”. Time to start prioritizing non-systemd distros and alternatives.
