TIL that one of the many ways it seems that Alexander the Great grieved his Hephaestion was by creating a cult dedicated in his honor, complete with followers, shrines, art, sacrifices, altars and temples. His cult even seems to have eclipsed the Athenians native Greek gods in worship.
