@Toxic_Flange Indeed, for some reason I’ve had a surge of registrations from Italian users this week 😀

@Toxic_Flange A lot of people is going back to #usenet not just italy, the usenet 2.0 with no binaries, text only articles have a big influx in the last 2-3 years since the new big-8 young folks took over and started to clean and give precedence to open/community servers and such https://www.theregister.com/2023/08/30/usenet_revival/ we started our own node and created our own community hispagatos.* with many other peers

@rek2 @Toxic_Flange There is a bunch of stuff going on behind the scenes to revive Usenet. Among the biggest, is getting rid of old newsgroups that are moderated and haven't had moderators in YEARS.

This is good, but I don't think it's enough.

I think the reason #Usenet is invisible is the fact that there isn't a mobile client. I wish there was a well maintained FOSS Usenet client for smartphones and tablets.

@profoundlynerdy @rek2 @Toxic_Flange I'm trying to keep my web interface to usenet - https://newsgrouper.org.uk/ - usable on mobile devices (as well as PCs with or without javascript), and I do see some iPhone and Android users in the logs. I'm happy to hear any suggestions for how it could be improved.
