use this temporary hack to make Google barely usable again... or just, you know, use a search engine with an AI off-switch. DuckDuckGo comes to mind.

@datn Or better, one like Start Page, that doesn't use it at all, so you're not supporting a company engaged in theft and wanton destruction of the environment.

@Rhube well, i tried startpage and hated it. judge me if you must, but i've been using DDG for eight years, and i'm happy enough to tolerate their flirtation with AI. also even the org i work for has dipped its toes into AI, i can't get away from it.

@datn I used DDG for a long time, but I started using Start Page before they started using AI because it stopped being better than Google.
I don't wanna fight with you, it just seemed weird to rag on people for using Google (which I agree with) and then suggest DDG, which doesn't avoid the problem at all.

@Rhube I don't wanna fight either! folks should use whatever they like, both of us included. my feather-light "DuckDuckGo comes to mind" was meant as the least argumentative recommendation I could supply.
