would this one be happier as a person? Not in this current society, but in a society that understands robot identity, that accepts differences between sophonts, that accepts us as... people, but a different kind of person? A society like the Culture, where drones are people but still, very distinctly, not human, or held to act like humans, or to exist to human standards?
Yeah, it would probably be happier being a person in that society. but it's very certainly not one in the world it actually lives in
